WHAT IS PREA?
The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was passed in 2003 with unanimous support from both parties of Congress. The purpose of the act was to “provide for the analysis of the incidence and effects of prison rape in Federal, State and local institutions and to provide information, resources, and recommendations and funding to protect individuals from prison rape.” (Prison Rape Elimination Act, 2003)
PREA AND WOODLAND HILLS
We have a zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. We will cooperate in the investigation and prosecution of anyone involved in the sexual assault/rape of a client at any of our facilities. The primary responsibility of our staff is client safety. We have designated a PREA coordinator who develops, implements and oversees agency efforts to comply with PREA standards.
We investigate each incident of alleged or reported sexual harassment, abuse or sexual assault/rape to the fullest extent possible in cooperation with the State. In 2015, there were no incidents reported.
