RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS: WHAT TO EXPECT
You can expect to have a lot of questions and we will be here to answer them all. We know that you are entrusting the care of your son or daughter to us. Take comfort in knowing that he or she will be cared for in a safe and nurturing environment.
You can expect your child to be assessed. This helps us determine the type of treatment options that will work best for your child.
Every child has different needs and different strengths and weaknesses. Once we’ve determined your child’s individual concerns and challenges, we will develop a personalized treatment plan with goals tailored to your child’s needs.
There are expectations in our programs. There are certain times of the day that your child is expected to get up, take part in various group sessions and activities, eat and go to bed. You can expect your child to be unhappy or angry with some of the things they will have to do and some of the limitations. Keep in mind that there are reasons for the structure in our program. If you aren’t sure about any of our expectations please ask.
Your child will be working in small groups. This will allow your child to start forming bonds and beginning to trust others. It will also give them much needed attention and role modeling from counselors and leaders.
We welcome you to be engaged in your child’s recovery. This means we will ask you to answer questions that will help in your child’s therapy, participate in family events and counseling and be open to discovering how you can play a part in your child’s treatment.
